“We’re thrilled to be able to bring this unique brand of high quality timepieces to Wichita.” Said Robin Lies, General Manager/Gemologist at Burnell’s. “It’s an honor to be selected to carry this symbol of Americanmade luxury, built right here in the U.S.A. to last well beyond a lifetime.”
Shinola offers an unmatched warranty among luxury watchmakers, every Shinola watch comes with a limited lifetime guarantee under the terms and conditions of the warranty. Shinola is able to offer this guarantee because they source watch components of exceptionally high quality and utilize a handmade production process in a stateoftheart Detroit factory. As such, you’ll feel a great sense of satisfaction in knowing your Shinola timepiece can be passed down to the next generation.
All Shinola watches are powered by a Shinola Detroitbuilt Argonite movement, made with imported parts from Switzerland. The watch faces are easily distinguishable by the Shinola wording on the front, and the back of the cases feature a Shinola inscription as well as a serial number and the phrase “built in Detroit.” Shinola watches are available with a number of variations such as a date window or a moon dial capable of tracking lunar phases. A wide range of band options is also available, including leather, nylon strap and metal bracelet.
The collection includes several different lines of analog watches that includes an assortment of bands, faces, colors and lengths. One popular line, The Runwell, features a sapphire crystal, SuperLumiNova printed dial details, a solid stainless steel case, a screwdown crown, two hands, a remote second hand and a laseretched case.
Shinola watches sell for between $475 and $1,125. Shinola operates retail stores in Detroit, New York, Washington DC and a newly opened store in London. The brand is also sold through a limited number of luxury stores such as Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
Since its founding in 2011, Shinola has grown into a leading US watch manufacturer and has been a bright spot for Detroit, a story of resurrection and a return of new manufacturing to America’s manufacturing city. Shinola began with 20 employees four years ago. Today, they have more than 500, most of whom are in Detroit. The watches are built there by people using tweezers to put tiny components in place, more than 100 pieces in some watches.
And yes…the name Shinola is taken from the defunct shoe polish company that began in 1907 and gained fame during WWII for the colloquialism, “You don’t know sh*t from Shinola.”
